On August 28, 2021, TYS held its kickoff kirtan at the Dayton Woman’s Club. TYS dedicated this kirtan and all of our future kirtans to Swamiji and the sages of the tradition. We look forward to sharing our love for singing and chanting the name of God with you in our upcoming kirtans.

You can find upcoming kirtans on our events page but check back often as we will be adding new dates throughout the year.

 TYS Open House Kirtan

Traditional Yoga Society Open House Kirtan from 07/23/2021.

One may think of kirtan as call and response chanting that hails from India, but for us at TYS, kirtans are much more than “singing the name of God” as a group. Kirtans involve satsang. Satsang can mean in the company of truth, and one of the most powerful ways to share truth during the Kali Yuga is to gather as a group to sing the name of God with love and devotion. At TYS, we rely heavily on kirtan as a mantra, which nourishes and protects the mind or relieves the mind from grief and sorrow, nada; creating union through sound and bhakti; to share the love and devotion for God.
